19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an better service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, took control to create a third set.

The opponent defended 4 initial chances in a close final set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
